The Huntington Botanical Gardens living collections comprise over 29,000 taxa representing some 16,000 species. This diverse collection is cultivated in twenty-one named gardens across 160 acres of public space, which also include art museums and a research library. Examples of core botanical collections include Agavaceae, Araceae, Arecaceae, Cactaceae, Camellia, Cycadales, Euphorbiaceae, Magnolia, Orchidaceae, and Rosa, among others. Research programs at the Gardens include molecular systematics and conservation genetics and a tissue culture/cryopreservation program. The Huntington Botanical Gardens Herbarium (HNT) contains over 10,000 specimens of vascular plants from around the world, with particular emphasis on plants from Mexico, Central America and South America. Important collections include those of F. Boutin, J. P. Folsom, D. R. Hodel, D. de Laubenfels, M. Kimnach and R. Moran. Plant families well-represented include Arecaceae, Cactaceae, Crassulaceae, Euphorbiaceae, and desert plants worldwide. Our tissue and DNA banks are a growing representation of our living collections as well as material from collecting expeditions and research-based field work.

The Museum of Southwestern Biology (MSB), Division of Genomic Resources (DGR) is a centralized repository at the University of New Mexico (UNM) for cryogenic biological materials submitted from MSB divisions at the University of New Mexico and from other individuals and institutions worldwide. The MSB DGR collection archives cryogenically preserved samples of animal tissues, whole organisms such as embryos and parasites, and purified DNA and RNA for the MSB divisions of Mammals, Birds, Fishes, Herpetology, and Parasitology. The MSB DGR collection contains over 500,000 cryogenic samples of more than 250,000 specimens and 3,000 species, representing Mammals (92%), Birds (4%), Reptiles (1%), Fishes (1%), and a growing collection of associated endo- and ectoparasites (2%). The collection spans more than 30 countries, with particularly strong holdings from the Southwestern United States, Beringia, and Latin America. Tissues and museum specimens can be located online bysearching the Arctos collections database at https://arctosdb.org for each of the MSB divisions.

The University of Alaska Museum of the North\'s Genomic Resources facility contains over 200,000 tissue samples from voucher specimens archived in the Mammalogy, Ornithology, Ichthyology and Entomology collections. Collection holdings can be searched on Arctos, a Collaborative Collection Management Solution. The geographic and taxonomic composition of the tissue collection is largely determined by the research interests of the museum curators and other local and regional biologists conducting research that involves specimen collection. It is the largest collection of such material from Alaskan species, with tissue samples dating back to 1936, though preserving fresh tissue did not become standard practice until the early 1990s. The storage facility consists of eight liquid nitrogen-cooled cryovats that maintain vapor-phase nitrogen at -170C (-274F).

The zoology collections at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science house approximately 77,000 specimens or lots (Mammals ~21,000, Birds ~55,000, Parasites ~7500 lots, and Herps ~1,000). Tissues are available from these collections representing over 31,100 individual samples. Specimens records are published from Arctos to data portals such as iDigBio, SCAN, ORNIS, MANiS, VertNet, GBIF, GenBank, and BISON, among others. Founded in 1900, the Museum continues to evolve, expanding in both size and breadth of activities, as exhibits, programs, research, and collections continue to offer opportunities for discovery.

The RMCA plays an active role in the sustainable development of Africa, and aspires to be a centre for collaboration and reflection on today's Africa and the challenges it faces. Our collections, noted for their diversity, are of enormous scientific value and are unique in many ways. Large portions have now been digitised and made available to researchers the world over.

The BCCM/ULC collection is part of the BCCM consortium (Belgian Coordinated Collections of Micro-organisms) and is hosted by the InBios-Centre for Protein Engineering at the University of Liège. BCCM/ULC is a dedicated public collection, currently containing one of the largest collection of documented (sub)polar cyanobacteria worldwide. The collection holds 240 strains, of which the majority is characterized by phenotypic (morphological features based on microscopic observations) and genotypic (16S rRNA and ITS sequences) analyses. The three most important orders of cyanobacteria (Chroococcales, Oscillatoriales, Nostocales) are represented. The strains are unicyanobacterial, but not axenic. They are available as living cultures, and the majority is being cryopreserved (-80°C).

Our collection is specialized in lignocellulolytic fungi, fungi involved in food processing and spoilage, fermentative yeasts, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, fungal pathogens in tropical environments. The collection holds over 30000 strains of filamentous and yeast-like fungi and accepts public, patent and safe deposits.

The BCCM/ITM collection is part of the ISO 9001-certifified BCCM consortium (Belgian Coordinated Collections of Micro-organisms) and is hosted at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. Our collection is specialized in mycbobacteria from human, animal and environmental origin. The collection holds over 700 freeze-dried strains and DNA extracts for a selection of them. We accept public and safe deposits, and distribute viable bacilli as well as DNA extracts.
