The Repository Centre is providing access to biological material ranging from whole organisms (bacteria, fungi, plant material) to DNA samples of whole genomes (gDNA), organellar and sub-genomic clones and BACs or genes (ESTs). The core of our facility is a large automated sample storage and retrieval system. We integrate material and data from various sources all over Europe, being part of the EVOLTREE and Trees4Future networks. | AT

The Herbario Nacional (MEXU by its acronym in the Index Herbariorum), under the custody of the Instituto de Biología of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), holds ca. 1.6 million specimens in six collections, namely Algae, Bryophytes, Fungi, Historical Collection, Lichens, and Vascular Plants (the latter including subcollections Fruits and Seeds, Types, and Xylotheque). Nearly 1.3 million specimens are available online, in most cases including a high-resolution digital image, in our web platform IBdata 3 (www.ibdata.ib.unam.mx) and also through UNAM´s open data portal (https://datosabiertos.unam.mx/). | MX
A mileage goes beyond century symbolizing the abundance and beauty of life, which nourishes the culture of Taiwan with the ocean…
In 1991, the preparatory office of the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium(NMMBA) was formally established, the hard and tough scheming and construction work were then begun…., the opening of the Waters of Taiwan was finally finished on February 25th, 2000 after numerous efforts and frustrations, we formally stepped toward the infinite field of international marine education and research since then.
Under the multiple functional thinking of the museum affairs, the NMMBA also approaches the overall promotion of community, entertainment, international and so forth other than the upgrading of the educational, academic and conservational aspects. In July, 2000, the Aquarium Department of the museum was consigned to Hi-Scene World Enterprise for professional operation and management after screening. This not only initiated the first case of consigning the national social educational agency to outside operation, but also implemented thoroughly the cooperation concept for professional division of labor.
The NMMBA introduced the Waters of the World covering the global waters and ancient ocean with the method of combining the aquarium and all digital images following the openings of the Waters of Taiwan and the Coral Kingdom Pavilion. All progresses were finished at the end of 2007, which made the NMMBA the best museum worldwide. | TW

FIOCRUZ/Protozoa Collection (Consortium Member of FIOCRUZ Fundação Oswaldo Cruz) Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) promotes health and social development, generates and disseminates scientific and technological knowledge, be an agent of citizenship. These are the concepts that guide the actions of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), under the Ministry of Health, the most prominent institution of science and technology in health in Latin America.
Fiocruz has established its headquarters in the campus located in Manguinhos in the North of Rio de Janeiro state, where are the historic buildings of the former Federal Serum Therapy Institute (Instituto Soroterápico Federal). - as the Moorish Pavilion, the Pavilion of the Clock and Stable. Other six units are in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Recife, Manaus, Brasilia and Curitiba. Besides, there are new units that are being structured, as part of the national expansion project of Fiocruz, relating to policies for decentralization of research and training of human resources, promoted by the Federal Government. The new units of Fiocruz that are in development will be implemented in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Ceará, Rondônia and Piauí.
Fiocruz has as one of its missions to preserve heritage buildings regarded to its history and its fields of activity. The campuses of the Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, in addition to harbor important architectural specimens of various periods, have high potential urban and landscape. The preservation of this heritage is responsibility of technical staff of the Department of Historical Heritage (DPH) of the Oswaldo Cruz House. | BR | 2025-01-29 | 83

CBG Collections maintains a globally unique natural history collection of 3.3 million specimens. Every specimen is digitized, and the exact storage location of each specimen is tracked in a collection management information system for quick reference and retrieval. The databased information for every voucher is also archived in the Barcode of Life Data System (BOLD; www.boldsystems.org), permitting the permanent storage, validation and analysis of barcode sequence data and associated specimen metadata. Most (88.6%) of the specimens have been DNA barcoded, and a few representatives of every species have been digitally imaged. | CA | 2025-01-30 | 1,500,515

Biobank of blood and DNA from amphibian, reptiles, birds, mammals and their hemoparasites from Apicomplexan, Kinetiplastida and Nematoda taxa. Samples are stored in ethanol, SET buffer or EDTA at -20°C. DNA extracted from some infected and non-infected vertebrate are resuspended in TE and stored at -20°C.
GERPH collection also has microscopic preparations as specimen voucher material and photographic record of the hosts. | CO | 2025-01-29 | 1,593
The collection contains tissue and extracted DNA samples of vertebrates, namely birds. The samples origin from wild animals (e.g. European free-living bird collection) as well as men-reared species, including parrots and chickens collected mainly in Europe from birds kept by hobby breeders. Tissue samples represent mainly blood, but part of the samples is derived from other tissues and feathers.
