The Steinhardt Museum of Natural History (SMNHTAU) is a recognized National Research and a Central Research Infrastructure. With >90% of the country’s taxonomists and with three active Centers charged with surveying and monitoring Israel’s nature, is the most active hub of biodiversity research in Israel. It is home of the National Collections of Natural History with over 5.5 million scientific specimens that record the biodiversity of the region over the past century.

Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (JNTBGRI) is one of the pioneer institutes in India devoted to the conservation and sustainable utilization of tropical biodiversity. The plant conservation activities of JNTBGRI are aligned with the targets laid out under the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC), which are highly relevant to all the targets under SDG 15. We are now home to over 4000 species, including several species endemic to the Western Ghats. JNTBGRI is unique in its conservation actions with conservatories for all major plant groups and exclusive conservatories for threatened species in India. JNTBGRI is structured in such a way that garden and research and development activities are carried out in an inclusive manner.

The Host-Parasite Relationship Study Group (GERPH) was founded to safeguard and study the blood parasite diversity of Colombian wildlife. The collection contains 31,000 microscopic slides of blood smears and organ prints from approximately 13,000 specimens. These samples were collected from 20 species of fish, 72 species of amphibians, 107 species of reptiles, 710 species of birds, and 100 species of mammals. At least 1,650 parasite infections belonging to the groups Apicomplexa, Kinetoplastea, and Nematoda have been found in these vertebrates. Additionally, the GERPH blod / tissue /DNA biobank have approximately 8,000 samples taken since 2010. Samples are stored in ethanol, SET buffer or EDTA at -20°C. DNA extracted from some infected and non-infected vertebrate are resuspended in TE and stored at -20°C. GERPH collection has microscopic preparations as specimen voucher material and photographic record of the hosts.

The Gainesville location, opened in 2015, celebrates years of planning and development of one of North Georgia’s most beautiful landscapes aimed at connecting visitors with both the natural world and cultural amenities. It is home to the largest conservation nursery in the Southeast. The Huntington Botanical Gardens living collections comprise over 29,000 taxa representing some 16,000 species. This diverse collection is cultivated in twenty-one named gardens across 160 acres of public space, which also include art museums and a research library. Examples of core botanical collections include Agavaceae, Araceae, Arecaceae, Cactaceae, Camellia, Cycadales, Euphorbiaceae, Magnolia, Orchidaceae, and Rosa, among others. Research programs at the Gardens include molecular systematics and conservation genetics and a tissue culture/cryopreservation program. The Huntington Botanical Gardens Herbarium (HNT) contains over 10,000 specimens of vascular plants from around the world, with particular emphasis on plants from Mexico, Central America and South America. Important collections include those of F. Boutin, J. P. Folsom, D. R. Hodel, D. de Laubenfels, M. Kimnach and R. Moran. Plant families well-represented include Arecaceae, Cactaceae, Crassulaceae, Euphorbiaceae, and desert plants worldwide. Our tissue and DNA banks are a growing representation of our living collections as well as material from collecting expeditions and research-based field work.

The Repository Centre is providing access to biological material ranging from whole organisms (bacteria, fungi, plant material) to DNA samples of whole genomes (gDNA), organellar and sub-genomic clones and BACs or genes (ESTs). The core of our facility is a large automated sample storage and retrieval system. We integrate material and data from various sources all over Europe, being part of the EVOLTREE and Trees4Future networks.

The Herbario Nacional (MEXU by its acronym in the Index Herbariorum), under the custody of the Instituto de Biología of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), holds ca. 1.6 million specimens in six collections, namely Algae, Bryophytes, Fungi, Historical Collection, Lichens, and Vascular Plants (the latter including subcollections Fruits and Seeds, Types, and Xylotheque). Nearly 1.3 million specimens are available online, in most cases including a high-resolution digital image, in our web platform IBdata 3 (www.ibdata.ib.unam.mx) and also through UNAM´s open data portal (https://datosabiertos.unam.mx/).

A mileage goes beyond century symbolizing the abundance and beauty of life, which nourishes the culture of Taiwan with the ocean… In 1991, the preparatory office of the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium(NMMBA) was formally established, the hard and tough scheming and construction work were then begun…., the opening of the Waters of Taiwan was finally finished on February 25th, 2000 after numerous efforts and frustrations, we formally stepped toward the infinite field of international marine education and research since then. Under the multiple functional thinking of the museum affairs, the NMMBA also approaches the overall promotion of community, entertainment, international and so forth other than the upgrading of the educational, academic and conservational aspects. In July, 2000, the Aquarium Department of the museum was consigned to Hi-Scene World Enterprise for professional operation and management after screening. This not only initiated the first case of consigning the national social educational agency to outside operation, but also implemented thoroughly the cooperation concept for professional division of labor. The NMMBA introduced the Waters of the World covering the global waters and ancient ocean with the method of combining the aquarium and all digital images following the openings of the Waters of Taiwan and the Coral Kingdom Pavilion. All progresses were finished at the end of 2007, which made the NMMBA the best museum worldwide.

Biobanking aligns with the mission of the accredited zoo and aquarium community to sustain healthy populations and advance husbandry, veterinary, behavioral, and genetic knowledge in support of long-term biodiversity conservation. The Canadian Museum of Nature - National Biodiversity Cryobank of Canada is the physical facility for sample storage.
